Discover amazing weather phenomena in the world
Animal rain, swirling fire or rainbow fire are very rare and extremely beautiful weather phenomena. They are great works that nature has bestowed on people in certain places on Earth. However, some phenomena are really dangerous and can kill many people.
Animal rain
In the first century AD, the first frog rain was recorded by Pliny the Elder. By 1794, French soldiers also witnessed a full-blown rain. Today, Honduran people also experience the phenomenon of Lluvia de Peces - a rain of fish that occurs every year for more than a century.
The cause of this phenomenon is often explained by the whirlpools, but the source of fish closest to the site of the Lluvia de Peces rain is more than 200km away, the distance of the whirlpools cannot reach. This may be due to freshwater fish moving to seasonal groundwater. Heavy rains washed away the fish and when the water receded, the fish remained on the ground. Some believe that pastor Jose Manuel Subirana prayed for 3 days and 3 nights to bring these fish rains to the poor Yoro people.
Cloud with holes
Residents in Stockton, CA claim they have seen a big hole in the sky and think the cause is alien. In fact, this is an amazing natural phenomenon that creates holes with clouds.
Volcanic clouds or volumetric clouds often contain water at very low temperatures. This amount of water cannot freeze and cause holes. Scientists believe that when airplanes fly through these clouds, the air passing through the propeller or airplane wings expands and cools rapidly, causing ice crystals to form.
Swirling fire
This rare phenomenon occurs when large fires cause air currents to move with high speed and temperature to form huge pillars of fire. These pillars are often turned off quite quickly, but some survive very long due to floating heat and surrounding gases that maintain the fire. The worst flaming fire occurred in 1923 in Japan after an earthquake of 7.9 Richter scale. Earthquake survivors gathered in a quite safe place but a swirling fire swept away thousands of people.
Lightning Catatumbo
This unique phenomenon takes place only at the mouth of the Catatumbo river in Venezuela when the river water enters Maracaibo lake. Two streams of hot and cold air in contact with the nearby swamp produce methane gas that increases the electrical conductivity of the clouds and creates lightning beams. This phenomenon took place 140-160 nights / year but stopped for a few months in 2010 causing local people to worry. However, after re-exporting, lightning bolts are several times stronger.
Rainbow fire
Fire rainbow only occurs in the summer months. The sun must be at an altitude of 58 degrees or more, with the appearance of a rolling cloud above. The sun shines on ice crystals in the cloud at a 90-degree angle to create beautiful fire rainbows.
Brinicle tape finger
This is a strange weather phenomenon occurring on the ocean floor due to cold saturated salt water. When the heat moves from warm waters to cold air, the bottom ice begins to form. The ice is pushed into saturated salt water because the water is thicker and colder than the surrounding area, and the ice also freezes the warm waters surrounding it. When this ice finger touches the sea floor, it will freeze all that surrounds including sea urchins and starfish.
Green flashing
This phenomenon usually occurs when sunrise or sunset-time light reaches the observer. The blue of the flash is due to the light being bent and refracted in the atmosphere. The air acts as a prism separating light into different colors. When the sun rises above the horizon, the colors in the spectrum merge into white light. This blue light only appears a few seconds each time when the sun has not reached its end.
Volcanic lightning
Another really attractive and rare weather phenomenon is volcanic lightning. Volcanic lightning is formed at the crater. This process begins when the crystals separate due to impact or breakage. Some differences in aerodynamics make positively charged particles separate from negatively charged particles. Lightning occurs when the separation of charged particles makes the surrounding air conductive. Volcanic eruptions also create a large amount of rainwater causing storms.
Aurora Borealis - beautiful bright background in the sky
Also known as the phenomenon of Northern light, the Aurora Borealis takes place when collisions fix Earth's gas molecules with molecules that carry electricity from the sun into the atmosphere. This phenomenon occurs in the areas near the two poles of the earth and at the seasons of the year. Light comes in many colors but green and pink are the most popular. Aboriginal Menominee in Wisconsin believes that Northern light is the soul of great hunters.
Cloud roll
Looking like tornadoes, these clouds often appear in the same storms. This phenomenon occurs when the reverse air temperature causes warm air above the cool air. After that, the direction and speed of the wind change and cause a beautiful rolling effect.
Suitable moisture is required for these clouds to appear. Hurricane winds actually push the clouds into tubes that move before the storm appears.
