Discover an isolated tribe with the world in the Amazon forest
According to the Brazilian federal government, researchers have discovered an Aboriginal tribe that has never been exposed to Western civilization in a remote area of the Amazon forest, located northwest of Rio de Janeiro.
The Metyktire tribe of about 87 members is found in an area that is difficult to access due to the dense forest and no surrounding rivers. The tribe of this Kayapo Aboriginal group lives on 4.1 million hectares covering Menkregnoti conservation area.
Patrick Cunningham of the London-based Indigenous Cultural Support Organization, who surveyed the area, said members of the new tribe discovered the ancient language of Kayapo and were not dressed.
About 700,000 Aboriginal people live in Brazil, most of them in the Amazon, of which 400,000 live in protected areas and try to maintain their traditional culture, language and lifestyle.
