Discover new fungus in Lam Dong

Vietnamese scientists have just recorded a new species of Dreswe mushroom in Bidoup - Nui Ba National Park.

In the framework of a project belonging to the Central Highlands 3 Program at Bidoup - Nui Ba National Park, Lam Dong Province, the research group of Southern Institute of Ecology (SIE) has recorded the Dreswe mushroom species, scientific name is Phallus. drewesii Desjardin & BA Perry . This species was first recorded in 2009 and it is only known in Sao Tome Island, the West African Sea.

According to information on the website of Southern Institute of Ecology, the above note of the scientific group is the first discovery of this species distribution in Asia and the fifth species of the genus Phallus in Vietnam.

Dreswe's height is 0.3‒1.5cm, 0.3‒0.8cm in diameter. It usually grows on woody stems and is very rare.

The discovery was published in the mushroom journal Mycosphere.
