This is the result of a survey conducted during last April in the Tompotika mountain area, on Sulawesi island.

Jake Esselstyn, a biologist at McMaster University (Hamilton, Canada), said this white-toothed shrew has small eyes, thick fur. Their senses are very sensitive to the taste and noise around them, especially the detection of small invertebrates such as earthworms.

As mammals, white-toothed shrews can be called ' fast and die early ' with a heartbeat that operates 1,200 times per minute.

In particular, some shrews have very toxic saliva that helps them to capture prey quickly. In addition, they possess a fairly long tail and small legs, making it easy to live on the ground and above.

The survey also helps biologists find new species of animals such as geckos, frogs, snakes .
