According to experts, the Greater Mekong Sub-region is under pressure to develop by mining, expanding roads, and developing hydroelectric dams. These are the main factors that threaten the existence of landscapes - which make the region special. Hunting for the needs of the wild meat market or the billions of dollars worth of illegal wildlife trade is putting more pressure on the region's wildlife. Many species can disappear forever before they are discovered.

Research shows that Vietnam is rich in biodiversity. However, many species are at risk of extinction due to illegal hunting and habitat change.

Together with Vietnam to protect biodiversity, recently, WWF Vietnam has collaborated with Yok Don National Park to launch the Emergency Elephant Conservation Action Plan in the Central Highlands, where the largest forest elephant population is located. country. In the near future, WWF Vietnam will support Thua Thien - Hue to fulfill its commitment that the city will not consume wild animals.
