Dogs can detect prostate cancer
According to a recent study by scientists at Tenon Hospital in Paris (France), dogs can be trained to detect prostate cancer by examining urine samples.

The doctors at the Tenon Hospital in Paris (France) have trained dogs to distinguish the urine of men with prostate cancer and urine of normal men.
After that, the scientists tested the distinguishing ability of these trained dogs with 66 different urine samples. The result was that the dog correctly identified 63 samples.
Research results may surprise many people, but scientists believe that Canine's ability to distinguish odors is 100,000 times higher than our ability to distinguish odors.
Besides, prostate cancer cells have a very characteristic smell. So, Dr. Jean-Nicolas Cornu, the head of the study, said: 'Trained dogs can identify the specific smells of cancer cells'.
If the results of French scientists are accurate, the method of using dogs to detect prostate cancer will be more accurate and less expensive than the method of detecting cancer with a blood test such as now on.
However, some scientists believe that this study has only been conducted on a small scale, so its actual effectiveness cannot be determined.
