Dong Nai: Research on application of animal embryo transfer techniques in breeding high-yield beef and dairy cows

In response to the increasing demand for cow's milk in the domestic and international markets, from January 2004, Dong Nai Agricultural Extension Center has embarked on the implementation of the project: " Research on application of transplanting techniques Animal embryos in breeding high yielding beef and dairy cows at 2 points are: Dong Nai Dairy Cow Joint Stock Company and Loc An Commune, Long Thanh District. set and report preliminary to the Provincial Science Council on November 9, 2006.

Picture 1 of Dong Nai: Research on application of animal embryo transfer techniques in breeding high-yield beef and dairy cows (Photo: Dong Nai Department of Science and Technology) Embryo transfer (CTP) is considered a special measure, applying high technology in the early creation of good breeds as the nucleus of dairy herds. CTP technology helps improve disease resistance for cattle, quickly multiplies good and rare breeds into actual production on the basis of fully exploiting the genetic potential of high-yield individuals; improve fertility, increase milk and meat productivity, shorten breeding time because a cow for embryos can produce high quality calves in a year, spend money to invest in cages, feed and workers. In fact, CTP cow has been studied and applied in Vietnam since the 1980s at the National Center for Natural Science and Technology, but the number is still limited. Moreover, in Vietnam in general and in Dong Nai in particular, the import of many foreign dairy cows as background cows is difficult to implement, partly because of the cost, partly because foreign cows are very difficult to adapt to the climate of our country.

Therefore, the selection of locally available high-yielding, high-yielding cows to produce embryos and use Lai Sind base cows or F1, F2 low-yielding Dutch cows to produce cows It is necessary to receive embryos by inducing synchronization with cows for embryos to increase the number of quality dairy cows and beef cows to meet market demand and bring about high economic efficiency.

After the testing process, it was shown that the process of causing ovulation on cows for embryos has 2 formulas with high results and easy-to-use hormones on the market, low cost . In order to induce simultaneous oestrus and synchronous oestrus for embryo-receiving cows, performing procedure 2 (PMSG + PG-F2α injection) is most effective. The results of the study also showed that the best time for collecting embryos was selected on the 7th day after mating. At this point, embryos in the morula stage, blastocysts are quite stable. If collected after the 8th day, it is likely that the embryo has developed to the old blastocyst stage, leaving the transparent membrane, it will be difficult to find embryos and the possibility of embryo damage is also very high.

In the context of farming households, the research team selected non-surgical embryo collection method to carry out embryos from cows; solution after rinsing is illuminated under a stereoscopic microscope to find the embryo; then raise the magnification to classify. Typical embryos for developmental stage, no defect, or embryos correct for developmental stage, beautiful cell color, there are several isolated cells selected for transplantation for receiving or frozen storage embryos in liquid Nitrogen solution - 196 o C.

The subject products obtained are: High-yield cattle embryos derived from oocyte embryos are 237 embryos; High-yield frozen dairy cow embryos from collecting oocyte super embryos are 107 embryos; freshly transplanted calves for Lai Sind cows or F1 hybrid cows are 28; calves from frozen zygote are 25.

The Scientific Council also assesses the high applicability as well as the economic efficiency that the project will bring when the research is successful, while contributing ideas to the authors of the topic that it is necessary to continue to monitor the disease of cows after CTP and the health of calves born, quickly opened training courses, CTP technical guidance for technical staff so that research results could be quickly applied and achieved the objectives desired topic.
