Earth is threatened by meteorites

According to Radio Voice of Russia on October 5, at the Applied Astronomical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences in St. Petersburg. St. Petersburg took part in the International Conference of " Meteorites-2009 " in an effort to find ways to prevent potential risks from aerospace.

In an interview with reporters, Mr. Andrei Finkelstein, Academic Fellows of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Director of the Institute of Applied Astronomy, said the Earth is currently threatened by meteorites in the air. The time and risk of collisions between Earth and these meteorites are no longer fiction.

A concrete example is the Tunguska meteorite incident that fell into the Siberian region in 1908, which has so far been marked by the terrible traces of the incident. Therefore, the mission of the scientific world is to protect the Earth from these dangerous collisions.

According to Finkelstein, scientists around the world are actively researching methods to combat the collision of cosmic objects, asteroids and meteors with Earth, however, scientific discoveries New engineering studies are in the first stage and have not yet transitioned to testing.

Among these inventions, nearly 15 technical technologies can be used in the future, such as the destruction of a meteorite with nuclear weapons or the destruction of meteorites approaching the Earth with another meteorite.

Russian scientists are also studying the trajectories of cosmic objects, asteroids and meteors, assessing the level of risk and predicting the potential risk of cosmic objects colliding with the Earth.

To carry out this activity, scientists used the ' Kvazar ' radio technology network, built by the Russian Academy of Sciences, as well as existing observatories.

Under the plan, a strong radar station will be built in the Far East to locate asteroids and meteors near Earth. According to Finkelstein, the projects are aimed at building a 'shield ' to protect the Earth from meteorite attacks .
