Elon Musk considered moving to settle on Mars

SpaceX's founder and president said there is a 70% chance he will fly and settle on the red planet.

The American billionaire Elon Musk shared his dream and role of Starship in that trip when interviewing the Axios documentary program on HBO, Tech Times yesterday reported. "We have recently achieved some groundbreaking achievements and I am really excited. I am talking about moving to Mars," Musk said.

If you want to go back to Earth, there's no guarantee Musk can return. The red planet is 54.6 million kilometers from Earth. This is the minimum distance between the two planets. Musk or any person who wants to explore Mars faces a very high risk of death in a multi-month journey between deep space and when arriving at an empty planet. According to Musk, the chances of dying on Mars are much higher than on Earth.

The 47-year-old billionaire stressed the red planet is definitely not a resort. Even if people survive the long journey and overcome the harsh conditions on Mars, they may have to spend the rest of their working hours building a settlement base.

In addition, the cost of flying from Earth to Mars with the Starship rocket is quite expensive. Musk said one-way tickets cost about $ 20,000. However, Musk still wants to go."There are many people who still climb the mountain even though there are always dead people on Mount Everest. They want to conquer the challenge , " Musk said.

Musk founded the aerospace company in 2002 hoping to colonize Mars in the future. The company is developing its key rocket Starship with the earliest plan to launch the test in 2019. The missile will send Japanese billionaire and his guest artists around the Moon. In 2022, SpaceX intends to fly unmanned flights to Mars to transport goods and supplies. If successful, the first crew flight to the red planet will take place in 2024.
