Explore the superhard giant diamond mine in Siberia

On September 17, scientists from the Siberian Institute of Geology and Minerals at the Russian Academy of Sciences published the first information about the super hard diamond mine in Siberia.

The announcement of the discovery is seen as an event that is about to open a revolution in the global diamond market.

The director of the Russian Academy of Sciences Nicholas Pokhilenko said the diamond mine is located on the border of Krasnoyarsk and Yakutia provinces, dating up to 40 million years with a diameter of about 100km. It is worth mentioning that the new mine has diamond reserves larger than the world's diamond reserves.

Researchers say the newly discovered diamonds are impáctites, so their value will be much greater than any existing diamond.

Diamonds of this type have a special structure and are twice as hard as synthetic diamonds and natural diamonds, because they are formed from falling meteorites.

Nicholas Pokhilenko revealed that the diamond mine was discovered in 1970, but the exploitation was blocked for its own reasons.

One of the reasons is that at the time of discovery, Russia is building an artificial diamond manufacturing plant.

Previously in 1955, in the scale of Amakinsky expedition in Yakut, Soviet geologists also discovered the Mirny diamond mine, which is considered to be the largest in the world. But the new diamond mine in Siberia is still many times larger with reserves of trillions of carats.
