'Forget' computers, more creative people

According to research by the University of Utah and the University of Kansas (USA), the ability of human creativity increased significantly when they left the usual electronic devices.

The survey, published in PLOSONE, conducted research on 30 men and 26 women, an average age of 28. These people took a trip that lasted 4-6 days in desolate areas. and do not carry familiar technology and communication equipment.

Of these, 24 tested their creativity at the beginning and 32 took the test after 4 days of picnics.

Approaching nature, leaving modern equipment enhances creativity

On average after the picnic days, the test scores they achieved were 6.08 / 10. Meanwhile, those who have not started yet only get an average score of 4.14 points.

The study co-author, psychology professor David Strayer, at the University of Utah, said: 'The survey shows that interactions with nature bring real, quantifiable benefits to solve creative problems. The authors of the previous centuries explain why exposure to nature is important and many people like to go on vacation but we don't know its benefits in a scientific way. '

The research team also reiterated previous surveys that young children now spend only 15-25 minutes a day outdoors, far less than 30 years ago. Meanwhile, teenagers from 8 to 18 years of age currently spend more than 7.5 hours / day for communication devices such as TVs, mobile phones, computers .

Scientists believe that modern technology and communication devices dominate people's attention while access to nature restores that attention, making it easier for people to focus on creativity. .
