The scrolls that we still use today in toilets have a very clever design that perhaps few of us notice. There are 3 smart points in the design of toilet paper rolls.

The first is a neat, roll design that will make the inner layers avoid stains. The second is the hollow-core core, so that it can be hung on a wall-mounted hook, then just pull out the paper head to use. The third is the perforated lines on the scroll so that the user can easily tear the piece of paper to be used out of the roll.

The truth is that it was patented by inventor Seth Wheeler with a toilet paper roll design in 1891. Recently a photo is said to describe the toilet paper roll design for patent registration. This in the US has been found and published, ending all controversy before.

Perhaps you do not know, but before there was quite a lot of controversy about how to hang toilet paper rolls, a job that seemed simple. This controversy is called "over or under". In particular, one side believes that the way to hang toilet paper rolls must be for the paper head to be pulled out and used at the top of the paper roll. Such a way of hanging is called over as shown below.

Another side said that when newly invented, toilet paper rolls were hung in such a way that the paper head was at the bottom of the scroll. Arguments suggest that hanging this way will cause children and some pets such as cats to not be mischievous and pull the scroll down. Same as in the illustration below.

However, after the patent of the toilet paper roll in 1891 was found, we learned that the original design of Seth Wheeler was over design. Many experts also evaluate how to roll over toilet paper rolls in a way that makes it easier for users to pull and remove paper from the roll rather than under.

What style of toilet roll do you hang at home?

If you don't believe it, you can go home and see what kind of toilet paper roll is in your toilet. I'm sure it is over. And if that's the case, you can try to change the way of hanging under to see if it's more difficult.
