The habit of drinking alcohol can improve your social standing, according to a new study by the Canadian Center for Mental Health and Addiction.

In a survey of 357 youths in Ontario from May to July 2012, Dr. Tara Dumas said her group found out in men that drinking helped them gain the respect of those around them.

Besides, drinking alcohol, not much, helps women get a higher position in society, according to the report on Addictive Behaviors.

The team of experts also discovered that during the drinking, the ones who drink the most often are the ones with the highest social position in the group.

Scientists are concerned that the results of this study may affect risk awareness campaigns from alcohol.

Binge drinking can cause many people to face health risks, including increased risk of injury, alcohol poisoning, liver disease .
