Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in Tam Duong district (Vinh Phuc) has selected and successfully created two high quality aromatic rice varieties QR1 and VS1 on an area of ​​2ha in Bau Long Tri village, Hop Hoa town.

These two rice varieties have many advantages compared to the control such as good quality rice, small seeds, shiny, light fragrance, non-stick cooked rice, tough and bold rice flavor . In particular, these two rice varieties are of high economic value, able to withstand leaf-leaf hoppers and pests than commercially grown HT1 rice varieties in the province.

Each rice variety has its own characteristics as for QR1 variety with the ability to feel cold, grow uniformly, grow well, have a short growth period. The results of QR1 harvest are very positive with productivity from 56.9-57,6 quintal / ha, up 1.3-2.9% compared to the control HT1 variety, but the quality and value of income increase. more like HT1 from 1,000-1,500 VND / kg of rice, while the input cost is the same.

This is a rice cultivating for 2 crops of the year, with wide adaptability, good pest resistance, suitable for late spring tea structure and early season tea, fertilizer rate is only 2/3 of other rice varieties. White rice, delicious rice quality.

For VS1 variety, the plant height is 100-110cm, the leaves are vertical, thick, the leaves are large, the branches are quite branched, compact, big, short burning, the plants are quite low, so it has good anti-dumping ability. Some common worms such as stem borer, small leaf worms, and sheath disease are only mildly harmful. Spring crop, growing time is 120-125 days, 95-100 days is short, 3-5 days shorter than Khang Dan, the productivity is similar but better quality because of the fragrant gene.

Compared with control varieties such as Bac Thom and Huong Thom, VS1 yield exceeds 15%, growth time is shorter than 5-7 days, has wide adaptability and hardiness, especially silver leaf resistance than Bac Thom. VS1 rice when blowing rice has a light aroma, very strong, strong taste. Based on productivity, investment cost and market price, this unit preliminarily accounts, on the same plot of cultivated land, when VS1 is transplanted, interest is higher than Khang Dan from 200,000-205,000 VND, higher equivalent 5.5-5.6 million / ha.

According to the experience of the people, this is a variety of rice that lays a lot, if planted with a high density, it will be slightly infected with sheath. When cultivating, you should not apply too much nitrogen, do not fertilize and apply the " first and last " light fertilizer.

Currently, in Vinh Phuc province, many varieties of rice are degraded, infected with aphids and seriously infected, the agricultural sector recommends that farmers should not use. Besides, the area of ​​agricultural production land of the province is increasingly narrowed, production is always affected by natural disasters and floods.

The research, testing and successful selection of two high-quality fragrant rice varieties QR1 and VS1 have been timely added to the province's rice seed structure, while helping to shorten the time to make the winter crop early to meet. practical requirements, opening up rice export direction for Vinh Phuc province.
