Phu Tho successfully tested many new rice varieties
The agricultural extension station of Tam Nong district, Phu Tho province has successfully tested many new rice varieties for outstanding productivity and quality, adding to the province's seed structure in the coming years.
The model was implemented in the spring recruiting season, on an area of 32.5 hectares in six communes, including the varieties of University 18, TBR 117, TBR 27, TBR 288, TBR 225, Thai Xuyen .
The results show that these new varieties have a short growth time, withstand the external conditions and good pest resistance, good rice quality. In particular, these varieties produce very high yields, from 233 to 355kg / rod, compared to Khang dan control rice varieties that are growing locally.
Many high yielding varieties such as University of rice variety 18 yield up to 355 kg / sao, Dai Duong 8 rice variety yield 256 kg / sao, similar to TBR 266 for yield of 246 kg / sao .
The varieties of rice TBR 27, TBR 117, RAP 288, TBR 225 branching are very strong, compact, beautiful shape, standing leaves, concentrated flowering, big cotton, long tapered seeds, dark brown shells, white tissue, possibly pest resistance is quite good, especially blast in spring and leaf blight. Rice cooked with this kind of rice is delicious, flexible and fragrant.
The results of the model will be the basis for farmers to choose to gradually replace low-yielding and high-quality rice varieties and create a premise for investment and intensive farming and expansion of commodity rice production in the province.
