ISS crew welcomes the new year at least twice!
Crew members on the International Space Station (ISS) will see the new year at least twice, announced by Russian astronaut Mikhail Tyurin during a televised press conference at the Flight Control Center. Russia on December 28.
ISS circulates around the Earth 16 times a day, so the crew will have up to 16 New Year's Eve greetings!
'We are considering how many times we will celebrate the New Year. We will try our best. Most seriously, we will celebrate the New Year with family by Moscow time and New York time , 'Tyurin said, citing Interfax news agency.
ISS crew received Christmas gifts and New Year gifts from space shuttle Discovery. NASA Space Flight astronaut Michael Lopez-Algeria said he was happy to receive drawings from his 7-year-old son, while astronaut Sunita Williams (also from NASA) received gifts from his mother. are pictures of the Gorbie dog she loves.
It is inconvenient for astronauts to say they welcome the new year without alcohol, and say they like 'some champagne and caviar'!
