Jumping robot is like a human causing fever

Robot Atlas designed by Boston Dynamics reveals the ability to run steep terrain and jump over obstacles in videos that attract nearly 23 million views.

The Atlas humanoid robot demonstrates the same human-running ability in video shared by US-based robot maker Boston Dynamics on May 10, attracting more than 2.9 million views, according to Live Science. The robot strode across the grass, not far from the trees and sparse houses. The whirring and clattering emanating from the motor, Atlas' gears and joints echoed in a quiet setting.

The robot is described as the " most dynamic humanoid robot in the world" running at a slow and steady speed through a sloping slope to another field, then the forest before a log. Atlas stood firmly, folded his knees, raised his hand quickly to flow through obstacles and landed without staggering. It was an impressive performance very much like human action.

This is not the first time Atlas videos have caused fever. In the video posted on YouTube on February 23, 2016, the robot walked through the snow-covered forest, packed boxes up and regained its spectacular balance after the Boston Dynamics staff used it to lighten the hockey stick.

However, Atlas' first-flagged video ran freely outdoors, an experiment with the robot's balance and orientation between a natural setting instead of a warehouse. Atlas sensors allow it to move smoothly on rough terrain and quickly get up when stumbling, according to Boston Dynamics.
