Love changes over time

Contrary to winged words "love you / me forever" , scientific research proves that the level of love that people have for their partners changes over time, not a constant emotion.

Arthur Aron, a psychologist at New York University in the US, and his colleagues recruited 10 women and 7 men to perform an experiment on the level of change of love over time. Those who have married for an average of 21 years and still love their partners, Livescience reported.

The team used magnetic resonance imaging to analyze the brains of 17 subjects when they looked at pictures of their partners. The results showed that many brain regions of the volunteer group remained active when they looked at pictures, especially areas of the brain that handled excitement and attachment. That phenomenon proves that their love for their partners is still great.

But Aron affirmed that human love truly changes over time. According to him, after living together for a long time, the couples are used to the presence of their partners in life. They are no longer afraid that the other person will leave them. So the level of desire for your partner naturally decreases with time and the level of passion in love also decreases.

'For most people who keep love for a long time, the general trend is that the level of love in love decreases with time, but their engagement increases gradually , ' Aron said.

The bond between the two opposite sexes gives them the motivation to live together for a long time and raise their children.

'Most mammals don't raise babies together, but people do it,' Aron commented.
