Mars is approaching the Earth

Mars and Earth are at the stage of getting close together. By December, every hour, the distance between the two planets will decrease by 35,400km. So NASA chose June to bring Phoenix's mission to the red planet.

Later this year, Mars will be the brightest star in the sky. By August 27, it will appear next to Aldebaran star in Taurus (Taurus). These two bodies will be quite close to each other and look like eyes.

In the past few weeks, a strong sandstorm is raging on Mars, hindering exploration of two Spirit and Opportunity robots. Huge dust clouds obscure the topography of the red planet, normally visible to the naked eye.

A rumor in Britain suggested that Mars would be as big as the Moon on the night of August 27. This rumor was released in 2003, when Earth and Mars are coming together.

This phenomenon can happen: although Mars is very close to us, the planet is millions of kilometers from Earth.
