6 people boarded MH17 flight from Amsterdam (Netherlands) on their journey to Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and transferred to Melbourne (Australia) to attend the AIDS international conference. Among them are Mr. Joep Lange, former president of the International Association of AIDS and Glenn Thomas, expert of the World Health Organization.

The 20th International Conference on AIDS took place at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Center from July 20-25, with the participation of 12,000 delegates from nearly 200 countries and territories. The Vietnamese delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long.

The International AIDS Conference is an opportunity to gather people working in HIV, people living with HIV and interested individuals committed to stopping this pandemic.
