Men talk as much as women

It turns out, when actually counting words, there is not much difference between men and women while talking. This fact will erase the " profound " impression for women for a long time.

The oil lead research group by Matthias R. Mehl, an assistant professor of psychology at the University of Arizona, came to this conclusion. The researchers attached microphones to 396 college students at intervals of 2 to 10 days, sampled their conversations and calculated the number of words they used for a day.

The result is: Women: 16,215 words - Men: 15,669 words. The difference is 546 words. "It's not statistically important ," the researchers said.

" 500 words are not worth it, compared to 45,000 words, the difference between the least talked and the most talkative person in the study ," Mehl said. He also said the least words in the investigation - a man - only used more than 500 words a day, while the best man used more than 45,000 words.

Researchers collect these data for a larger project, to find out how people are affected when talking about emotional memories.

They were surprised when an article claimed that women use an average of 20,000 words per day compared to only 7,000 in men. If there is such a big difference, then according to Mehl, they should have recognized it.

The team found that the number of 20,000-7,000 has been widely used in books and magazines for many years. But there is no scientific research that supports it.
