Anyone who studies ancient Chinese history knows that during the change of dynasties, when the Liao and Song dynasties met, the Song - Liao war occurred in an extremely fierce way. This historical period took place during the reign of Song Taizong Zhao Guangyi, approximately from the late 10th century to the early 11th century after the establishment of the Northern Song Dynasty. At that time, the power of the Liao state was expanding and border conflicts also occurred more frequently.

Therefore, the Song emperor decided to send messengers to ask for peace. It was a difficult decision, because making peace with the Lieu family would mean admitting one's weakness, but under the circumstances, it seemed the only option. The Emperor knew that continuing to fight would only bring greater losses and would not guarantee ultimate victory.

The messengers' journey to Liao was arduous, but they eventually succeeded in reaching a peace agreement with Liao. The Song Dynasty had to cede part of its territory and pay compensation in exchange for relative peace on the border.

The magnificent palaces inside Yen Kinh citadel and the vast mountains outside the citadel were the pride of the rulers of the Lieu Dynasty. However, this mighty empire declined due to an unexpected event.

All of this stemmed from the depravity and indulgence of Emperor Thien To (the ninth and last emperor of the Liao Dynasty) . This Emperor had a special love for wine, beautiful women and hunting, especially the hunting bird called Hai Dong Qing (Arctic Kestrel). But the bird lived in the Jurchen area, outside the management range of the Liao Dynasty.

Therefore, Emperor Thien To sent messengers to Jurchen to bring back the Hai Dong Qing birds, but their greed did not stop there. Emissaries kidnap Jurchen girls to satisfy their selfish desires. Although nothing could be done against this behavior, the leaders of the Jurchen tribe took this hatred deep into their hearts.

At that time, Emperor Thien To was still intoxicated with alcohol and ignored the threat of the Kim family. After many battles, the Liao state fell into chaos and the fate of the Liao dynasty was rewritten. The Jin army captured Yen Kinh, and Emperor Thien To of Liao was also captured. The fall of the Liao Dynasty marked the end of the empire that once dominated the Northeast.
