NASA explorer ship landed on Mars, sending the first picture to Earth

InSight spacecraft of the US Aerospace Agency (NASA) landed on Mars on the morning of November 27 for the mission to explore the structure inside the red planet.

The official InSight spacecraft landed on the surface of Mars at 18:53 GMT (2 53 hours, Vietnam time), according to Reuters.

The staff at NASA's operating center in California state cheered over this successful response. NASA director James Bridenstine said it was a great day and said Vice President Mike Pence had called to congratulate.

The ship landed on a large and flat area called Elysium Planitia , close to the equator of the red planet. NASA called it the biggest parking lot on Mars.

The first photos showed the material around the ship, but it was blurred because the Martian dust clung to the lens as it landed. Clearer pictures are expected to be sent in the near future.

This is the first planet in the world to be discovered by humans inside the geological layer. Scientists will learn about the inner structure of Mars from the core to the shell through three experiments.

A seismograph will be used to listen to the internal vibration to understand the layers of rock. Next, a drilling system will dig 5 m deep into the Martian surface due to temperature and assess the planet's activity level. Finally, scientists used radio waves to find out how Mars tilted its axis and what's inside the core.

The InSight spacecraft was launched from California in May and passed the 548 million km journey to Mars. The ship will stay here for 24 months to collect data.
