The Moon's close-up causes a number of effects on other objects such as the tide, but it cannot be said to lead to the end of the world. The Moon itself has not changed.

In the past, when human beings had not built systems that predicted the movement of objects in the Milky Way, civilizations like the Inca or Mesopotamia believed that eclipses and lunar eclipses were frightening phenomena and not predictable.
