NASA warns the aurora 'beauty and monsters' can destroy the Earth
Scientists warn that one day the solar storm could collapse the Earth's communications network.
NASA recently shared a breathtaking aurora photo in the sky in Iceland called 'the beauty and the monster' , while giving this beautiful aurora warning as a sign of no appreciation at all.
The image is extremely beautiful, but it is a threat to warn the Sun.
The image was taken by astronomer Juan Carlos Casado on Lake Thingvallavatn in Iceland in 2016 and selected as NASA's Day Astronomical Photo.
The aurora has an amazing green spiral between the picturesque clouds with the bright Moon beside and the stars in the background. Aurora is actually the result of collisions between charged particles from the Sun and particles in the Earth's atmosphere.
Although they are often harmless, scientists warn that a particularly powerful solar flame could one day release charged particles capable of lowering the Earth's communications network.
This happened once before in 1859, when solar-related charged particles bombarded the Earth's magnetic field, known as the " Carrington Event."
Measures have been taken to protect the Earth from the effects of solar storms, but Casado warns that if a similar large-scale event happens today, it could be devastating. .
