NASA will plant trees on the moon

The US Aerospace Agency (NASA) will carry out a landmark experiment in 2015. It is planting trees on the surface of the moon.

According to Phys.org's science website, NASA's Lunar Crops (LPGH) team will use coffee-box-sized boxes to protect plants from the moon's harsh environment.

Inside the boxes are cameras, sensors and electronic devices to transfer information about the plant back to earth. NASA's goal is to develop a very simple closed crop room that can stimulate plants to germinate for 5 to 10 days on the lunar surface.

What kind of tree will NASA grow? LPGH indicates the candidates are beet, basil and Arabidopsis. Expert Simon Gilroy of the University of Wisconsin-Madison said Arabidopsis is the 'white mouse for experiment of plant biology'. NASA will use sunlight on the lunar surface to stimulate germination.

NASA said it will send this plantation room to the lunar surface on the commercial space ship in the Google Lunar X-Prize program implemented by X Prize Foudation and Google sponsored.

NASA said the planting project will help scientists learn about the possibility of living on the moon to answer the question of "whether humans can live and work on the moon, not just a few days but many years". . The first step of this process will be to experiment with planting trees.
