New hypothesis about the signal 'Wow!' Comfort of aliens

Cosmic signal 'Wow!' famous may be due to comets emitted rather than alien products.

Antonio Paris, professor of astronomy at Saint Petersburg University in Florida, USA, recently proposed a new theory that "Wow!" famously originated from a comet passing by , not by aliens, the Mother Nature Network on June 1 reported.

"I came up with the idea while I was driving. I wondered if a celestial body moving fast enough could be a signal generator," Paris said.

Signal "Wow!" discovered by Dr. Jerry Ehman in 1977 while participating in the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) project. The strange radio signal lasts 72 seconds and never repeats. It's called Wow! because this is the word Ehman wrote on the printed version of the signal, according to Mother Nature Network. Signals seem to come from the constellation Sagittarius , about 120 light-years from Earth.

Many researchers believe that "Wow!" is the first message we get from aliens. But according to New Scientist, the new hypothesis of Paris can answer the origin of this space signal.

Paris found that two 266P / Christensen and P / 2008 comets Y2 (Gibbs) all have orbits in the vicinity of the constellation Sagittarius on the day of the "Wow!" . Both comets were discovered only by humans in 2006 and 2008.

When comets approach enough near the Sun, they release a lot of hydrogen. It is likely that the hydrogen released in this way will generate the same wavelength as the "Wow!" Signal .

The 266P / Christensen comet flew over the constellation Sagittarius again on January 25, 2017, while Comet P / 2008 Y2 (Gibbs) will advance to this position on January 7, 2018. This is an opportunity for scientists to re-analyze both comets, to see if the comet signal emitted matches the "Wow!" or not.
