  19. Loa lịch (lao hạch): Hoa mai lượng vừa đủ, trứng gà 1 quả. Dùng dao nhọn chích một lỗ nhỏ ở quả trứng rồi nhét hoa mai vào trong, đem hấp cách thủy cho chín rồi ăn, mỗi ngày 1 lần, 7 lần là một liệu trình.
  20. Viêm da lở loét : Hoa mai 6g đem ngâm với dầu lạc hoặc dầu vừng, sau 2 tuần thì dùng được, bôi vào tổn thương mỗi ngày 2 lần.
  21. Bỏng : Hoa mai lượng vừa đủ ngâm với dầu trà rồi bôi vào vùng bị bỏng.

Ngoài ra, trong ẩm thực cổ truyền, hoa mai còn được cổ nhân sử dụng như một loại thực phẩm để chế thành những món ăn có công dụng bổ dưỡng cường thân cùng với các loại thực phẩm khác như thịt lợn, thịt dê, hải sâm, trứng gà, cá chép, nấm hương… Như vậy, với vẻ đẹp tao nhã và hương thơm thanh khiết của mình, hoa mai không những có giá trị thẩm mỹ sâu sắc mà còn là một vị thuốc hay và một loại thực phẩm độc đáo.

Việc áp dụng kỹ thuật trồng cây đúng sẽ mang lại những bông hoa mai đẹp mắt.

  1. Đất trồng mai trên vườn, líp: Cây mai phát triển tốt trên đất thịt nhẹ có nhiều chất hữu cơ, đất không chua, không bị nhiễm phèn, mặn hoặc các hoá chất độc hại.
  2. Đất trồng mai trong chậu : Cần chọn loại đất có các tính chất như trên, trộn theo tỷ lệ khoảng 70-80% đất và 20-30% phân hữu cơ hoai mục theo trọng lượng đất trong chậu.

Mai trồng trên vườn, líp

  1. Tỉa cành: Người trồng nên tỉa cây mai chậm nhất cho đến 20 âm lịch.Tuỳ theo hình dạng của cây, người chơi hoa nên có cách tỉa thích hợp nhưng thông thường các cây mai tỉa theo dáng cây thông (trên ngắn – dưới dài để cây có hình nón), bình thường các cành được cắt tỉa đi một phần ba.
  2. Bón lót khi trồng: Phân chuồng (phân trâu bò, tro trấu, xơ dừa…) đã qua ủ khoảng 5-10kg/gốc, vôi bột khoảng 200-300gr/gốc + 50-100gr lân đầu trâu. Toàn bộ lượng phân này được trộn đều trong hố (hoặc rãnh) trước khi trồng cây con.
  3. Bón thúc: Sau khi trồng khoảng 10-15 ngày, cây bắt đầu ra rễ mới, dùng phân NPK 20-20-15+TE đầu trâu hoà loãng để tưới, lượng phân sử dụng từ 50-100 gr/10-15 lít nước, khoảng 20-30 ngày tưới 1 lần. Khi mai đã lớn, lượng phân bón cũng được tăng dần và khoảng cách các lần bón phân xa hơn. Loại phân bón qua đất thích hợp cho mai là NPK 20-20-15+TE hoặc NPK 16-12-8-11+TE. Lượng bón khoảng 20 -50 gr/gốc/lần bón, cách khoảng 1-2 tháng bón 1 lần.
  4. Khi mai đã cho hoa ổn định : Hàng năm cần bón bổ sung phân hữu cơ từ 5-10kg/gốc. Sử dụng loại phân NPK 20-20-15+TE hoặc NPK 16-12-8-11+TE bón mỗi năm khoảng 3-4 lần với lượng bón như trên vào các đợt: sau khi tàn hoa (sau dịp Tết), cắt tỉa cành; đầu mùa mưa; giữa mùa mưa và trước khi mai nở hoa khoảng 1-1,5 tháng. Cần bón phân theo hốc, theo rãnh sâu từ 5-7cm theo tàn lá của cây, bón vào vùng có nhiều rễ non phát triển, sau đó lấp đất, giữ ẩm vào mùa khô, thoáng gốc vào mùa mưa.

Mai trồng trong chậu

Mai được đem ra ngoài càng sớm càng tốt, phải đặt cây nơi có bóng râm để lá không bị cháy khi tiếp xúc trực tiếp với ánh sáng mặt trời. Người trồng cần cắt bỏ tất cả các hoa để cây không mất dinh dưỡng nuôi đài hoa tạo hạt, để lại một số lá.

  1. Bón phân: Lượng bón có thể thay đổi từ 20-50gr/chậu cho 1 lần bón. Với chậu lớn, cây mai nhiều tuổi có thể bón khoảng 50-80gr/chậu. Tạo rãnh xung quanh thành chậu, sâu khoảng 3-5cm, rải phân đều vào rãnh, lấp đất và tưới đủ ẩm. Tránh làm đứt rễ, cây dễ bị nhiễm bệnh qua vết thương. Nếu có điều kiện, hàng năm vào đầu mùa mưa nên thay đất trong chậu bằng đất mới tơi xốp, hoặc bổ sung phân hữu cơ đã hoai mục, lượng bón từ 2-3kg/chậu.
  2. Sử dụng phân bón lá: Ngoài việc sử dụng phân bón qua đất, phân bón lá có vai trò quan trọng trong việc thúc đẩy sinh trưởng và phát triển, bổ sung các chất dinh dưỡng thiếu hụt trong đất, kích thích ra rễ, ra lá, ra hoa theo ý muốn của người chơi mai.

  3. Một số loại phân bón lá được nhà vườn quan tâm đó là: Phân bón lá đầu trâu 501 thúc ra chồi ra lá, đầu trâu 701 thúc ra bông và đầu trâu 901 có tác dụng dưỡng bông giúp bông lâu tàn và có màu sắc đẹp. Tương tự nhóm sản phẩm phân bón lá đầu trâu 005, đầu trâu 007, đầu trâu 009 cũng có hiệu quả cao đối với tất cả các loại mai cảnh.

Khi tiết trời đã điểm xuân, những cơn mưa lất phất mang hơi ấm của năm mới bắt đầu tưới xuống, cũng là lúc mai vàng khoe sắc báo hiệu mùa xuân về. Xuân bình anh, may mắn và người người đều nở nụ cười trên môi, chào đón một năm mới an lành, hạnh phúc. Miền Bắc có hoa đào thì miền Nam cũng rực rỡ sắc mai.
