People are creative when they are happy and focused when they are sad
Temperament changes affect how each person records external information. Canadian researchers have confirmed that people with good moods will have good creativity but reduce concentration. And people with sadness are more attentive and more effective in jobs that require accuracy.
According to Dr. Adam Anderson of the University of Toronto leading the study, people with a good mood tend to expand ' information filters ' and have better intuition.
Researchers have followed the behavior of 24 volunteers who face two different types of work: the creative work requires a high level of concentration and a second job related to marketing. The sense of being obliged not to pay attention to all information may be distracting.
When work requires a link between words, people with good moods have proved to be more effective, but they have difficulty concentrating on visual testing. A happy mood helps to absorb outside information, while sad mood makes it more difficult to absorb.
The researchers used music from Bach and Prokofiev to create a mood. In order to raise their mood, they read statistics about Canada. The research results are published in the American journal PNAS.
