The truth about the UFO phenomenon appeared in South Africa
A few days ago, in the city of Cape Town - the capital of the Republic of South Africa - appeared strange-shaped clouds - like alien flying saucers.
Clouds UFO (unidentified flying object) in the sky of Cape Town.
These clouds seem to have disturbed the whole city. A lot of curious people came to the street to see. Some people even thought of the dark . scenario when the aliens invaded.
However, according to Derek Van Dam, CNN's meteorologist is actually a very normal natural phenomenon, called the " lenticular cloud ." Specifically, the clouds this time are cloud lenses formed from stratocumulus standing lenticular .
Lens clouds are isolated clouds, formed in the troposphere - the lowest layer of the atmosphere. Like the name suggests, these clouds take the shape of a camera lens, which tends to be static, non-moving.
According to meteorologists, lens clouds form when the wind is dampened through rough terrain , and in this case, Table Mountain is 1,066m high in Cape Town.
Meteorological expert Annette Venter of NCA explains: 'Humid winds blowing steadily through the mountain form a series of air waves. If the temperature at the peak of the wave is equal to the temperature of dew point, the lens cloud will form '.
Lens clouds formed at 3 different elevations: medium cloud, stratocumulus, and cirrus cloud . In it, the stratocumulus standing lenticular is often mistaken for UFOs in the past.
