Revealing the world's first human brain map

US scientists on April 12 revealed a map of the human brain stored in the world's first computer.

A growing public online source to learn about how the human brain works in the hope of resolving neurological diseases like Alzeimer and Parkinson.

The Allen Institute of Brain Science said that, with funding from Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, the $ 55 million " Allen Human Brain Atlas" project identified 1,000 slices in the human brain. According to more than 100 million data points, show the basic and biochemical gene expression of each slice.

According to the Allen Institute of Brain Science, these data, collected from the brains of two normal adults for research, show amazing similarity between 94% between human brains and at least 82% of all. Human genes are expressed in the brain, providing genetic mapping to better understand brain function as well as to study neurological diseases and other brain disorders.

Allan Jones, CEO of Allen's Brain Science Institute said: 'So far, an absolute map of the human brain, at this level of detail, has never existed .'

Dr Edward Jones, a neuroscience scientist at the University of California, said: 'They have adopted an industrial and high-tech approach to accomplish what no lab has done yet .'

So far, the above brain map is only for men. To further elucidate the differences between humans, the researchers hope to study eight more human brains by the end of 2012, and this completed Atlas will include women's brains. .
