Secrets of incompetent people

Low-income people are often not qualified to recognize their modest ability, American psychologists claim.

Livescience said, David Dunning, a psychologist at Cornell University in the US, studied the behavior and thinking of workers for more than a decade. He and his colleagues conducted a series of tests to test many possibilities - such as logical thinking, emotional intelligence, grammar, humor and even the ability to play chess. After the study subjects completed the tests, Dunning asked them to guess the number of points they could achieve.

The researchers found that high-scoring people were confident when guessing the score. This is the result that experts have anticipated. But they were stunned to find that even people who did very poor tests guessed they would get good grades.

The phenomenon of people with low capacity overestimates capacity
Your self is not an expression of optimism

'Most people only do 10 to 15% of the questions on the test thinking they can do 55 to 60%, which is higher than the average score. It turns out that people with the lowest capacity still think they perform better than others , ' Dunning said.

Dunning affirmed that the phenomenon of low caliber people overestimating their ability is not an expression of optimism. According to him, poor thinking ability makes incompetent people unable to assess their true ability.

'Even if we promise to inferior research subjects that they will be rewarded with 100 USD if judging the correct score, they still cannot guess correctly , ' Dunning said.

The inability of incompetent people to recognize their lousy capacity is the cause of the numerous negative problems of society, Dunning commented. For example, incompetent officials will pull down the development of the country, and the incompetent judge will cause many innocent people to unfairly sentence.

The study also found that, if a person is incapable of being in a field, they will not be able to recognize the talents or ideas of others in that area. This trend is true for all subjects in society - from workers to politicians.

'That phenomenon can destroy democratic society, because democracy really grows only if every citizen has the ability to recognize the most talented candidates or support the best policies' , Dunning comment.
