Sensory Fiction - Experience the sensation of the story
Researchers at MIT are developing a way for the reader to feel the story inside the book with real emotions through a model called "Sensory Fiction."
If previously only the film incorporates effects such as 3D, fog, taste, ... for the viewer to feel the real feeling, now the same experience can also when reading book.
The idea was first posted on Designboom. A model of a jacket containing sensors and actuators is used to create vibrations or simulate an increase in heart rate consistent with the story's evolution in the book. In addition, the jacket can also change the temperature or increase the pressure on the wearer's body to describe the action or the environment.
The jacket is accompanied by a book with LEDs to create ambient light. Not every regular book can be used for new reading. Currently, the first book being tested is a science fiction film "The Girl Who Was Plugged In" can feel the internal process with the senses.
Currently, this is only the first trial model of the new reading method. Scientists have yet to reveal the next step in the development of the technology. However, research may change the reading habits of people in the near future?
