The giant python has just been discovered in Wujul Wujul, north of Cairns, Australia.

Australian police said in a statement: 'You never know you will encounter something when you go to the week.'

'Realizing this is a good opportunity to take photos, officer Ben Tome asked his colleague Chris Kenny to get out of the police car, standing next to the giant animal.'

'Without caring about the police, the python quickly got off the road and the officers could continue to patrol'.

Scrub Python is Australia's largest python and can grow to 8m.

The python picture captures the attention of netizens. According to ABC News, since posting on Facebook on the afternoon of December 11, the photo was shared nearly 18,000 times, preferring 31,000 times with nearly 10,000 comments.

The python expert David Walton told ABC News that the police made the right decision to stay away from the python.

'Certainly if you try to catch it or use it to poke it, it can quickly come back. If it squeezes you, you'll get in trouble, ' Walton said.

The expert commented that this is a rare sight in the residential area and it is likely that the python is at the 'end of life' stage.

"Today we do not see pythons growing like that in residential areas because they are very easy to catch."

"It is quite rare for a lucky python to live long enough to achieve such a size, because they are often inserted, caught or killed by vehicles."
