The newly born dragon is 40cm long, perfectly healthy and the first Komodo dragon born outside Indonesia, home to the world's largest lizard.
Speaking at a press conference, Assistant Director Biswajit Guha Zoo said that the successful breeding of Komodo dragon is a meaningful event of Singapore Zoo, which has not had much experience with this reptile. .
According to Mr. Guha, breeding Komodo dragons in captivity is not easy because of difficulties in pairing as well as inexperienced broods.
This reptile is considered Indonesia's "treasure". They can be up to 3m long and weigh 140kg. Now this reptile species has been listed in the red list of highly endangered species./.
