Sixth graders make beer for the universe

A sixth-grade student is about to make history because he was the first to have a beer model brought up to experiment on space.

Michael Bodzianowski, 11, has just been awarded a national award by the National Center for Earth Science Education and Space for his beer experimental design - the design model was brought to the test at the Station. International Space (ISS).

The prototype of Michael's fermentation process in the micro-gravity environment is one of the selected experiments to take into space in the spacecraft launched in December. Michael also plans to go to Cape Canaveral in Florida state during the launch of the spacecraft.

The student of a school in Douglas County, Colorado, USA, said: 'At first, I really didn't think I would get such results. I just want this experiment to get good grades at school. '

The Denver Post reported that the idea came to Michael after he read the book Gruesome Facts about the popularity of medieval beer.

He proposed that in the project the possibility of beer becoming 'a product can turn into emergency water and pharmaceuticals - an important factor for future civilization'.

Michael's experimental design was carried into space with a silicon tube of 15, 24cm, hops, barley, yeast and water. An astronaut will do this experiment after the spacecraft is brought into space.
