SpaceX kicks off 2022 with the launch of 49 satellites

A total of 49 Starlink satellites, mounted on top of the Falcon 9 rocket, took off from Complex 39A at Kennedy Space Center in Florida, USA, at 4:49 pm on January 6 local time, or 4:46 am on the same day. 7/1 in Hanoi time.

About nine minutes after launch, the rocket's first propulsion stage - codenamed B1062 - detached and landed gently on a new unmanned barge "A Shortfall of Gravitas" in the Atlantic Ocean, marks SpaceX's first successful rocket launch and recovery in the new year.

In a new announcement, billionaire Elon Musk's company confirmed 49 satellites were successfully deployed after about 1 hour and 20 minutes of take-off, bringing the total number of Starlink satellites in orbit to nearly 2,000.

SpaceX's goal is to provide broadband satellite network services with global coverage, especially in rural and remote areas where connectivity is the least. Currently, the service is fully operational and available in 20 countries with over 100,000 subscribers.

For the B1062 propulsion stage, this is the fourth flight. The vehicle was first used on November 5, 2021 in the mission to launch the GPS III global positioning satellite for the US Air Force, followed by the US Air Force. flights on June 17, 2021, September 16, 2021 and January 7, 2021, respectively, carrying GPS satellites, Dragon spacecraft and Starlink satellites into orbit.
