In mid-September, IRNA quoted a senior Iranian space program official who once said that the country's next spacecraft might carry a Persian-like cat. He said that the upcoming spacecraft launch is likely to take place at the end of the current year according to Iran's schedule.

It is known that Iran launched the first self-made satellite named Omid (Hope) into orbit in 2009, in an effort to become the ninth country capable of launching satellites.

Then, in 2010, Iranian officials announced that the country had taken a mouse, two turtles and a worm on a space flight using a Kavoshagar-3 rocket.

In late January, Iran also announced that a monkey named Pishgam (or "Pioneer") was taken to space 120km high and returned safely during a 20-minute flight.

Here Tehran's preparations are aimed at bringing people to space in 2018 and becoming a leading technology in space technology in the Muslim world.
