The Ariane 5 rocket put into orbit two geostationary satellites, Intelsat-20 of Avanti Communications Europe's international satellite company Intelsat and HYLAS 2.

The Intelsat 20, which weighs more than 6 tons, is expected to operate for 24 years, and will provide telecom, video, telephone and data communication services in Europe, the Middle East, Russia and Asia.

This powerful satellite will replace Intelsat 7 and Intelsat 10, which were launched in 1998 and 2001, respectively.

HYLAS 2 is the second satellite of Avanti Communications. This satellite weighs 3.3 tons, used to provide broadband services to Eastern Europe, Africa and the Middle East, with an estimated operating time of more than 15 years.

This is the 208th Ariane 5 rocket launcher launched into orbit since the first launch in 1979.
