Spy agent - unsuccessful mission of the CIA

The US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) tried to turn cats into listening tools for foreign diplomats in the 60s.

In the 1960s, CIA officials wanted to find an effective and secret way to record the content of foreign officials' talks in the US, Scientific American reported. To realize that idea, researchers think of an animal close to humans. Among them, cats are the most rational animals, because they can get close to people without getting noticed.

After selecting a cat for testing, the researchers implanted devices into its body - such as a microphone in the ear, a radio transmitter in the skull. They then trained the cat to sit next to the target to record the conversation.

To check the effectiveness of the "cat spy" , CIA agents took the cat to a park and released it in the hope that it would approach two people in the chair and eavesdrop. Unfortunately, things don't go as planned. The cat does not seem to care about the great task the CIA entrusts. Instead he wandered on the road and died because a taxi rolled over.

The CIA leadership decided to cancel the cat training program to spy after the cat's death.
