Tesla quietly launches the world's longest running electric car
Tesla has updated its website on the S 100D, which extends the range of the P100D, becoming the world's longest running electric vehicle.
Model S 100D is a light-weight version.
The silent announcement of the Model S 100D is a strange thing that Tesla made to the auto industry, where automakers often take advantage of events or press conferences to announce their new models. The Model S 100D is a lightweight version.
New models of the Model S will use batteries similar to the Model X 100D and P100D . Compared to the P100D, the Model S 100D is capable of slower acceleration. Specifically, the Model S 100D has an acceleration time of 0-100km / h which is 4.2 seconds, which is slower than the 2.4 seconds of the P100D.
But in return, the range of the Model S 100D is 540km, while the P100D is only 500km. Adding 40km may not help much, but it's enough to steal the world's longest distance electric car from the Model S P100D.
More importantly, the 100D is also cheaper than the P100D. While the starting price of the P100D is around $ 130,000, the 100D is only $ 95,000. That is not much higher than the Model S 90D has a range of 475km.
