Previously, only 27 elements were identified as essential. Now, scientists claim bromine is indispensable in all animals, from primitive marine creatures to humans.

Scientists prove experimentally: when they remove bromine from the diet of fruit flies, they will die; when bromine supplementation, near-dead flies revived. This finding is significant for nutrition for patients, especially those who need hemodialysis.

Since 2012 scientists have determined, if peroxidasin enzymes are overactive , deposition of collagen 4 causes thickening of the basement membrane to reduce kidney function. It is the bromine itself that is both a motivating and restraint factor to regulate peroxidasin.
