Bodi is a tribe living in a remote valley in Ethiopia. Each year, the tribe will hold a festival called Kael as a New Year celebration. Accordingly, each family appoints an unmarried man to participate in the "raising belly" challenge lasting 6 months. During this time, they will have to fatten with cow blood, fresh milk and abstain from "that" completely .The man who owns the largest waist will receive the title of the sexiest, attractive every woman in the tribe.

French photographer Eric Lafforgue reached Bodi tribe to record this new experience. He said: "Cows are sacred animals to the people so they will not be killed. The cow is only slightly incised in the vein to get blood, then sealed with clay."

Young people attending the festival will stay in their own huts.Women in the tribe take on the task of taking care of boys by bringing wine, milk and cow blood in pots or bamboo pipes every day.They have to drink quickly before the milk and milk mixture cools.Some people even vomit and cannot drink this "special" water.

However, the traditional life of the tribe is under threat as the Ethiopian government plans to relocate 300,000 people from all parts of the country to the valley where Bodi people live.
