The Earth may have catastrophic collisions with Mars
Researchers have used ancient climatic cycles to determine the chaotic orbits of the solar system. And they do not rule out the possibility of a catastrophic collision between Earth and Mars.
This concussion prediction is published in Scientific American.
"The great finding of this study is the first discovery, clear geological evidence to confirm the notion that the solar system is chaotic ".
In the future, will there be a collision between Mars and Earth?
In this case, chaos is understood as random changes in the orbits of planets that can occur due to gravitational interactions between objects in the solar system."It is also called " butterfly effect ". This is the same phenomenon."
This idea was put forward before, but scientist Meyers and colleagues discovered compelling evidence at a surprising place: a stone system in Colorado . The formation of this rock is made up of deposited sediments when a large inland sea covers the regions of North America. These layers contain a regular record of climate changes triggered by the fluctuation of the amount of sunlight on Earth due to variations in its orbit.
According to the study, for at least 50 million years ago, Earth's orbit changed in shape: more rounded and elliptical than every 2.4 million years, creating climate change. However, when studying rock formations in Colorado, Meyers and colleagues found that about 85 million years ago, this orbital shape change frequency was 1.2 million years. From the team's point of view, this change is synonymous with the ability of Earth and Mars to collide.
Meyers added that research results help scientists determine the age of ancient rocks and understand the relationship between trajectory changes and climate. However, the research results also have a terrible event: billions of years later, there is a small probability of a collision between Mars and Earth.
