In the afternoon of July 18, GS. Pierre Darriulat, a scientist who worked at the European Atomic Research Organization (CERN), gave a lecture on the role of the Higgs boson, the ' Lord's grain' at the Institute of Advanced Mathematics.

The lecture entitled "The Universe in the Hat" refers to the relationship between the three major problems in physics, and the role of the discovery of the Higgs boson has opened a new chapter in physics.

GS. Ngo Bao Chau, Director of the Institute for Advanced Studies in Mathematics, said that this is the first lecture in the series of lectures for enjoying Science organized by the Advanced Research Institute for the subjects including those with common sense of science, but not necessarily profound expertise in the field of the lecture. Speakers are leading scientists, directly related to hot issues and the most recent advances in the area mentioned.

GS. Darriulat confirmed that the Higgs boson has just been published earlier this month to explain the mechanism of mass production of elementary particles in the Standard Model. The existence of the Higgs was proposed as a hypothesis in the 1960s. It was the subject of a hunt for nearly 50 years and was one of the main reasons for the construction of a hadron beam accelerator. giant (LHC) at CERN.

GS. Darriulat has lived and worked in Hanoi for many years. Before coming to Vietnam, he worked at CERN as research director. He was a spokesman for the UA2 experimental group whose results led to the discovery of W and Z boson particles in the 1980s.
