The first person to successfully breed tiger shrimp in the North

That boy is Do Quang Bon (born in 1971, in Thai Thuong commune, Thai Thuy district, Thai Binh); Director of Phuong Nam aquatic seed production enterprise - one of 75 excellent young farmers nationwide received the Luong Dinh Cua of 2006 award.

Like many other families who live on the sea, every year, they come to the crop of tiger prawns, crabs, fish . Do Quang Bon's family has to buy seeds from merchants from China.

Every year, Thai Binh coastal people have to import 100 million tiger prawn seed, high cost but not high quality. Breeds brought to stocking often develop slowly, containing pathogens. There are several times, raising a period of shrimp disease die in series.

For many years, the four families and many owners of shrimp ponds in Thai Thuy district have thrown into the sea tens and hundreds of millions of VND because they have to buy poor quality varieties.

Growing up in a family for many years, sticking to fishing and aquaculture, looking at the prawn ponds, Do Quang Four concern: 'Why not build a farm to produce prawn and seafood right now? in the hometown to proactively supply quality breeds, but also lower the price, control the seed and actively handle the arising diseases? '.

Encouraged by family, relatives, support and conditions of authorities, unions, in 2001, Do Quang Bon hired 9,000m 2 of coastal mudflats in Thai Thuong commune, built Camp Production of tiger prawn seed. When Four started to build a hatchery, the North did not have any individuals, businesses, or localities to breed tiger shrimp successfully.

To capture technology, visit models, exchange experiences, Four has traveled to many shrimp hatcheries in China; diving to the central provinces and the South of our country to learn and learn from the models.

Four to Nha Trang Fisheries University ' master degree study '. Before his enthusiasm and vision, the lecturers of Nha Trang University of Fisheries received help and advice on breeding tiger prawn techniques.

He sent 5 workers to go to school to learn experiences, especially how to overcome the unfavorable factors about the environment, climate, salinity, pH .

Sources of scientific knowledge plus technical experience learned from the field trips and family experiences, he has successfully built in Thai Binh waters the first tiger breeding shrimp farm in the North. It is impossible to tell all the difficulties about the days of building and raising breeding black tiger shrimp, but with the high determination, the results have not helped people.

In 2002, the hatchery gave tiger prawns a successful number of 4.5 million; 10.5 million in 2003; in 2004 was 17 million; in 2005 over 20 million children; in 2006 increased to 25 million.

In the funny story about breeding tiger prawns, I was very impressed by a story of Do Quang Bon. All mothers, after giving birth from 2 to 3 times, will be returned to the sea.

Four said, the giants of shrimp to transmit that, if eating maternal shrimp meat, the owners of shrimp farming difficult, before and also failed. Sometimes, the mother shrimp was released from the pond by the villagers and sold to the four people.

Successful production of Japanese prawns, cobia and mud crabs

In the near future, I strive to supply the market with 30 million tiger prawn seeds P15, 10 thousand saplings, over 10 thousand sea crabs, 8,000 heights of Japanese shrimp. If successful, with the number of 20 million children will increase the shrimp crop, increasing the efficiency of aquaculture in the region.

Four continue to study, draw experience, improve technology and technology and expand the scale of production capacity of shrimp hatcheries. In particular, in 2004, Four expanded many studies, technical learning and successfully produced Japanese prawn seed, with a quantity of 2 million P15, like 5,000 cobia.

He has also conducted research and application of technical advances in the production of sea crab seed and produced 100,000 animals, receiving 7 thousand varieties to serve the aquaculture movement of the people in the district.

Along with researching the production of aquatic breeds, Four invested in the technology model of shrimp farming with productivity of over 6 tons / ha / year, linking technical guidelines for some fishermen in the project area. exchanging rice production land for aquaculture in Thai Do commune invested by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The results of the ponds are from 3.5 to 5.5 tons / ha, the revenue reaches 220 to 300 million VND / ha.

Excellent young farm house

From 400 million VND of which about 300 million VND is loan, in 2006, Phuong Nam shrimp hatchery invested over 4 billion VND to expand the scale, increase the capacity of breeding tiger prawns with some breeds. other. Since then, the turnover of enterprises has also increased. In 2002, reaching 300 million VND, 550 million in 2003, 800 million in 2004, over 1 billion VND in 2006.

Enterprises have created regular jobs for 10 laborers with incomes of over VND 1 million / month, creating seasonal jobs for 30 laborers, with an income of over VND 500,000 / month.

With these achievements, the shrimp seed enterprise of Do Quang Bon was awarded the certificate by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Provincial People's Committee.

In 2005, Do Quang Bon was allowed to attend the Emulation Congress of Thai Binh Province, the 5th National Emulation Congress, praised and rewarded by the Provincial Party Committee and People's Committee; In 2006, Do Quang Bon was honored to become the outstanding young farmhouse nationwide awarded the Luong Dinh Cua award.
