7 astronauts set off with Atlantis to the International Space Station, lying on earth orbit, to continue the station installation.

Picture 1 of The first space shuttle leaves during the year Space shuttle Atlantis comes from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, USA, the first space shuttle released by NASA this year. Previous trip was in December last year.

The task of Atlantis members is to lay the foundation and power line for the Columbus module of Europe, scheduled to be installed in the Station later this year. They will also install two new solar panels.

NASA is expected to fly 15 more shuttles to the International Station, providing large equipment as well as supplies. They hope to complete the pre-retirement station installation of the space shuttle series, in 2010.
