The human embryo has been cloned
American experts have shocked the scientific community by claiming to successfully clone the monkey embryo and produce stem cells from this embryo. This is considered a great step towards human cloning.
According to Independent newspaper, the team of Oregon National Primate Species Research Center (in Portland, Oregon) said it will officially announce its achievements in the Nature science journal this month. Here is the first time scientists have succeeded in cloning embryos of adult primates - a 10-year-old brown monkey.
Independent reported that Oregon center experts implanted about 100 human embryos into the uterus of 50 brown-breasted monkeys. No mother monkey has successfully conceived to produce a monkey to reproduce the child. However, an expert in the team said it was only a matter of time since the Dolly sheep were created, scientists had to implant 277 times the embryo.
AP news agency said that for many years, scientists have attempted to clone monkey embryos because it is the primate closest to humans. Success is said to help open the path to successful human embryos and the creation of germ cells.
