The life of the Queen is immersed in Thanh

Everyone probably knows the movie 'The Last Emperor' tells about the life of Priyang - the last king of the Manchu dynasty. In it, mentioning Uyen Dung - the queen of Pho Nghi. Her life is a sad story that makes the next person sigh.

Start with a peaceful, happy childhood

Queen Uyen Dung is the last Queen of the Manchu dynasty. She was born on November 13, 1906 in Beijing, belonging to the Guo Bo La family and had her father, Vinh Nguyen, an interior minister of the court. Her mother passed away shortly after birth and she was raised by the successor Hang Huong, who was also her aunt.

Uyen Dung grew up in his father's love and model. Her father was a free-spirited Manchu aristocrat. Therefore, although the family has 2 other sons, Nhuan Luong (older brother) and Nhuan Ky (half-brother and half-brother), Uyen Dung can still go to school and study well.

Uyen Dung grew up in a happy, complete family and enjoyed the most advanced education of the time.(Illustration).

She attended a school founded by the American Christian Church. During her teenage years, she had the opportunity to learn English, piano and especially she admired jazz. In addition, she was exposed to Western culture through music and painting. At the same time, at home, the model of Hang Huong also paid attention to teaching her traditional Chinese rituals.

Uyen Dung girl gradually matures and possesses the rare talents and beauty of a girl absorbed with two cultures. At the age of updating, plus the influence of her father, she became one of the brightest "candidates" for the position of Queen, the official of Pho Nghi King at that time.

Then become the Emperor's wife

At 18, Uyen Dung was married to Pho Nghi. At that time, the Qing court fell and the royal family was just a puppet. However, they still hold the title and some other privileges; one of those privileges is to marry in the Forbidden City. Therefore, on November 30, 1922, Uyen Dung officially became Queen of the Qing Dynasty.

This is absolutely an arranged marriage. Pho Nghi was given a picture of the female priests to choose the most satisfactory. But the young king met many difficulties when choosing because the image quality at that time was very bad. At first, he chose a photo of Van Tu to create a poster; However, at that time, Van Tu was only 12 years old, so the people in the palace were Thuan Than Vuong Download Phong, Dear Hoang Quy Phi, Vinh Hue Hoang Quy and Doan Khang Hoang Thai all protested.

Instead, they suggested for the young king to choose Uyen Dung - a girl who was older, mature, and well-suited to her mother's way, the way he was a high-ranking mandarin in the court .

In preparation for the royal marriage, Uyen Dung had to enter the palace and learn a lot of rules. Those lessons were so harsh and difficult that many young girls burst into tears. And it seems that this sorrow is a precursor to the impending storms of the future Queen's life.

The marriage of Uyen Dung and Pho Nghi took place on November 30, 1922; however, unlike the other Emperors who were carried into the Forbidden City through the main gate of the Great Gate, Uyen Dung had to go through the side gate of the East Flower gate, proving that the Queen at this time could no longer hold the sanctuary. as before.

Although fame and prestige decline, Uyen Dung still has to fulfill and abide by the royal rituals, royal royal life in the Forbidden City. In addition to being happy by the king, Uyen Dung often reads books, novels, practices piano and welcomes family members. In some records, Uyen Dung during this time had signs of mental illness and had to be treated with opium. Therefore, Pu Yi allowed her to use opium and gradually became addicted, especially tobaco, a heavy cigarette.

The years of wandering are painful

In 1924, Phung Ngoc Tuong put pressure and arrested Pho Nghi and Uyen Dung to move out of the Forbidden City. So they moved to Tianjin, in a small village and under Japanese management. Here, she was named by Elizabeth Y in English as Elizabeth in order to match Sam Yi's English name Henry. By 1930, Pho Nghi became the puppet emperor set up by the Japanese and from there, their lives were extremely controlled.

As can be seen, Uyen Dung's life suffered a lot of the political forces of the time. Her personal life is not smooth. The official husband, Pho Nghi emperor could not carry out the usual "obligations" of a man; therefore always proved very indifferent and cold to the Queen. In addition, during his time as a puppet emperor, Pho Nghi also traveled many times, leaving Uyen Dung alone.

Adultery and end life in loneliness, illness

Perhaps due to her loneliness, she had an affair with Pho Nghi's two aides, Ly Can Ngoc and Ky Ke Trung ; There is even an illegitimate child. This story was discovered by the Japanese and made Priyang severely reprimanded. Because of his anger, Pu Yi threw a newborn child into a fire and then lied to Wei Rong, who handed the baby to another couple to raise.

After learning the truth about what happened to his child, Uyen Dung became crazy. Her illness was getting worse and falling into the path of addiction. She often speaks loudly and alienates people.

During the 1945 years, Uyen Dung's health deteriorated greatly due to the hunger for drug abuse. She was constantly hallucinating and occasionally beaten by guards. Finally, on June 20, 1946, Queen Uyen Dung died of malnutrition and lack of opium. It is said that her body was buried in a mass grave; however, this has never been verified and so far no one knows the exact resting place of this ill-fated Queen.

As for Pho Nghi, after hearing Uyen Dung's death, he did not have a bit of mercy. In his memoirs, he wrote, "I heard that she died in prison and it was unclear what the cause was. However, it was not a pity for someone who did not love and respect the village. It's like a woman, she's just an addict. "
