The Mars explorer robot starts down the crater Victoria
After the big sandstorm that caused Mars to sink in darkness for nearly 2 months, on September 12, Opportunity robot investigated red behavior began rolling down the crater Victoria.
Before allowing the robot to explore the crater, mission experts from NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory performed tests such as for the Opportunity robot to approach about 4 meters and stop if the slope was too large.
The team will analyze all the data sent by Opportunity before continuing to the Victoria pit.
Two Spirit and Opportunity robots have explored Mars since early 2004. Spirit has gone a total of 7,16km and Opportunity 11.45km.
